I close my eyes and remember this moment as if it were a ghostly spaceship stuck on top of Stara Planina, the monument on Mount Buzludzha hides mysteries from a bygone era. With its futuristic architecture, it seems to have been sent from another dimension to remind of the era of socialism, when ideologies were higher than the peaks around it.
When the mist envelops the peak, the Buzludzha monument looks even more mysterious, as if the mountain itself is keeping its secrets. It is a symbol of a bygone ideal that has left its mark on the landscape and in the minds of people.
For the photo, I was inspired by George Lucas’ Star Wars films. Prototype in the photo is the “Millennium Falcon” which is exploring the terrain
I am sorry for the state of this facility, I do not understand the desire of people to remove such monuments to communism, they are part of our past. There is no tree without roots and no people without history.
I managed to realize the photo thanks to Darin Topalov, who went around the monument and lit it with the flash, Mtel – because there is a current iron there, the flash synchronizer did not work and the cheerful company who were in winter jackets and wrapped under several covers because of the strong wind.
The photo is composed of 4 frames of 25 seconds each.
